Abhiyan Kapilvastu
Abhiyan Kapilvastu, established in 2013 and registered under number 837/070/71 (Social Welfare Council no. 37823), is a Nepalese NGO dedicated to advancing sustainable development in mountain regions. Its programs focus on biodiversity conservation, forestry, water management, disaster risk reduction, and the promotion of green and circular economy practices. Food security, gender, and climate change adaptation are mainstreamed across all initiatives. The organization works closely with governments, development partners, private sector, CSOs, and academia to promote inclusive, and resilient mountain community development.
Through advocacy, campaigning, knowledge sharing, and capacity/alliance building, Abhiyan Kapilvastu strengthens the rights of indigenous mountain communities and fosters sustainable practices. Its grassroots achievements have garnered international recognition, including the Judges’ Choice Award from the International Climate Initiative (2017) and the Adaptation at Scale Award for Innovative Climate Change Adaptation in Nepal (2016, with NDRC Nepal), underscoring its significant contributions to biodiversity conservation, climate resilience, and sustainable livelihoods.
